Understanding What We're Called To Do
A look into my heart today
Understanding that this moment is
the moment we've read about
in other people's lives--at other times
in history, in other places where evil deeds
unfurled,
And people averted their eyes
and danced in cabarets, and sang
to drown out the cries of
the unlucky ones being hauled away.
Understanding that history is happening now,
as we watch and decide, at any given moment,
what to do.
